There’s No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

Be careful signing up for that “free” credit score report.

The ad says free, the website says free – so why are millions of American’s getting bilked for $29.99 a few weeks later?

Watch out for what you’re signing up for as many free services automatically sign you up for a monthly credit monitoring service. It’s a useful service but not when you don’t expect it!

Always check over the detail of what you’re signing up for, especially when you need to add credit card details for a free report. If there’s a pre-selected checkbox for a monthly service uncheck unless you believe you’d benefit from the extra service.

If you’re looking for a genuinely free credit report the federal government has provided an annual reporting service here – which is 100% free for a once yearly checkup.
